Biographie (EN)
Henri’s career spans a wide range of forestry disciplines, with extensive experience in Research, Development, and Innovation (RD&I) across Europe, Australia, and other continents. Henri has led numerous national and international projects, collaborating with diverse academic and industry partners to deliver practical solutions for the forestry-wood sector. During his fourteen years in Australia, he headed the Forest Products Innovation Team at the Queensland Department of Primary Industries, developing research relevant to forest performance and engineered wood products. He later led the product development at a major Australian wood processing company specialising in structural timber, CLT, and Glulam. Currently, as General Manager for Forests to Timber Products at Scion, he leads initiatives that support the forestry sector’s transition to a significant bioeconomy contributor and help maximise value from forest resources. Throughout his career, Henri has remained committed to making positive, sustainable impacts by ensuring that his technical and research leadership directly benefit foresters, manufacturers, and end-users. Henri is a member of the Forest Growers Research (FGR) committee. FGR is the industry’s research management company that coordinates the scoping, contracting, funding, delivery and dissemination of research and development programmes relevant to the forest growing sector. He is a member of the Research Advisory Committee of the Australian Forest and Wood Innovations (AFWI), which provides expert advice to the Board on matters relating to forests and forest product research and innovation. He coordinates collaborations with European and Australian key R&D institutions. Henri’s early passion for trees developed while growing up in the Landes Forest in southwest France. It led him to study forest management, become an engineer in the wood industry and technology and later obtain a PHD in wood science. His scientific and technical career has involved multiple disciplines in project delivery within the forestry sector, spanning several continents and encompassing diverse cultures. His career in Research, Development, and Innovation (RD&I) for the forest-wood chain in Europe, Australia, and several other countries has provided him with rich experience in RD&I activities and advancing bio-circular development. Henri is currently the General Manager for Forests to Timber Products at Scion. The research initiatives in this impact area support the sector in identifying new opportunities and increasing value capture from forest to product. A key aspect of this role is enabling the forestry sector and industry partners to navigate the current environment, identify sustainable pathways that increase productivity, and address new and potential risks.
